Read, Write & Release Workshop

Emotion isn’t something we leave at the door in the life experience, whether personal or at work. Feeling is part of learning. Feeling is part of healing.
— Janet Howard, Field Notes on Letting Go - Page 42, "Feeling Safe Sitting Still"

13-session on-demand workshop on letting go with

a kundalini yoga and writing practice.

With breath work, movement, meditation, mantra and writing or narrating your personal essays, release the energetic vibration of the experiences. Listen to your own story - with self-love, compassion and forgiveness - until one day - you have heard it enough - it no longer defines you. It is no longer your story - no longer in your energy field.. Envision your next chapter - with a clean, empty piece of paper - waiting for your creativity, passion and dreaming.

With my healing memoir, and its pondering workbook with writing prompts for each essay - enter into a writing habit. Practice Kundalini Yoga based on themes from the book. In life, we have many chapters and are constantly shedding our old selves, revealing our vulnerable underbellies.

Letting go can refer to a relationship, a habit, a false belief, an unhealthy coping strategy or an old wound. The 13-session Read, Write & Release Workshop creates a sacred space for processing the life experience - and finding the hidden gifts along the way. Letting go is a practice. Practice means we are patient with ourselves.

The on-demand aspect allows you to read, write and process at a pace that is right for you - some may like a daily journey, others - once a week may be a more comfortable pace. As my therapist Wendy says, “you get to decide.”

  • With the use of the pondering workbook with writing prompts, establish a writing practice for healing, for processing - for the joy of creativity.

  • Process the life experience, connect with others and elevate your vibration through reading, writing, and sharing (audibly and written), your words - your truth - to yourself alone, in a private on-line space with other participants and/or on social media.

  • Increase physical endurance, strengthen nervous system, glandular balance and breathing through a shared practice.

  • Be part of an energetic movement of knowing, walking and talking your truth and growing the field of sat nam - of truth.

  • Watch your life transform - in alignment with your authenticity and soul purpose.

What is the flow of the experience?

I took major themes from the memoir and created writing prompts and a yoga kundalini class focused on that theme to create an experience of working through emotions, experiences, life lessons and earned wisdom associated with that theme - for healing - for peace.

Read

.With my memoir, “Field Notes on Letting Go - a memoir of truth-seeking, healing, and personal freedom”, explore healing essays - processing a painful past, dreams, animals and nature lessons and the Kundalini Yoga spiritual practice that held me through it all.

Witness truth - witness the impact of sat nam. Through a disciplined yoga, writing and nature practice - uncover your truth, feel your truth, walk your truth - and eventually - speak your truth. Live a truthful life - free of fear. Write your life narrative :)

Write

Explore emotions, relationships and life lessons through reading, writing, and sharing (audibly and written) — learning to let go, tap into creativity, connect with the soul and step into a powerful future.

Each memoir essay has writing prompts for exploration of your past, present and future. Tell your story, find your voice - Through telling the story - it is processed, listened to with a compassionate heart and then released - with forgiveness for all - including one’s self. Writing helps process the life experience, tease out the truth in complex relationships and experiences and receive life’s gifts and earned wisdom.

Release

Kundalini Yoga, breath work, meditation and mantra clear chakras and release dense energies from way back. We create a safe, sacred space to bend, move, twist, breathe, meditate and chant sacred mantra — for feeling and releasing emotions, peace, for love, for finding our inner warrior and living a creative, free life - where fear is balanced with powerful courage.

Healing with Reading, Writing & Kundalini Yoga

“Kundalini Yoga was one of my strategies for scratching the surface on myself and going deep. What was the truth under the surface of Janet?“

— Janet Howard, Page 65, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Study Time”

“Sadhana is a sacred time, a sacred place for a sacred act. The discipline, the repetition, the work, creates a home for healing — and a place to connect and align with my soul.”

— Janet Howard, Page 43, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Feeling Safe Sitting Still"

“I was comfortable as a teacher. I never pretended to have it all figured out. We were all students and all teachers together. It took some time to feel that it was okay to show my authentic self, as the teacher. In time, I realized it was my strength.”

— Janet Howard, Page 91, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Learning By Teaching”

“When I look at life experiences as initiations with valuable gifts, it’s easier to stay with them.”

— Janet Howard, Page 43, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Feeling Safe Sitting Still”

“No matter what energy I bring to the mat - loneliness, fear, sadness or struggle - the mantra cuts through it and provides the filler to bring me back to neutral, like a tuning fork.”

— Janet Howard, Page 40, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Feeling Safe Sitting Still"

“My higher self is following its divine plan and I am honored to step into the current and let it carry me. Yes. I get scared, but the power of Kundalini Yoga, mantra, prayer, lullabies, children and cats, wolf, owl, grasshopper, green plastic bag, my little Janet voodoo doll and Radiohead were with me.”

— Janet Howard, Page 237, Field Notes on Letting Go, “Day 5 of Vision Quest - Sunday.”

“When I was done with the vision quest, I was love. I was pure. I was peace.” — Janet

About Janet

When my marriage fell apart, I knew I had to face a painful past. I found the mat and started practicing Kundalini yoga. My daily sadhana held me safe as I worked through layers of protection, slowly dropping what no longer served. Sat nam - truth is my identity - the seed of truth was planted and it transformed my life. I look forward to being with you - and working/playing/reading and writing together - practicing what it means to love and care for ourselves.
