Grow a New Body

We must go back to the primarily planet-based diet of our ancient ancestors and their way of experiencing the Oneness of the cosmos.
— – Alberto Villoldo

After several years of following Alberto Villoldo, Marcela Lobos and the Four Winds Society, I made the leap and participated in the 300-hour Master of Shamanic Energy Medicine training - completed in March 2023. I was meant to be there - it felt familiar and comfortable - and hard. The teachings and experience are with me - adding another set of practices, being with nature, with my classmates and with ancient ceremonial and healing practices.

I was surprised to find “Grow a New Body” on the reading list, authored by the Four Wind’s founder, Alberto Villoldo. I’ve read many of his books but wondered why a book about diet. Was it a cleanse? What did the book have to do with the healing practices? I reluctantly ordered an audio recording and lay down for a listen. It took just a few paragraphs to get it.

In life, I make decisions based on my feelings - not as much on evidence or data. I follow my gut. I follow my gut. Huh. Guess what? The book focuses on the gut. The book is about the health of the gut and its connection to the brain and organ function and even spiritual connection. All that from a healthy gut? The gut holds that much power? I listen to my gut in decision-making, feeling energy and people and situations - I trust it. While I knew my gut was important, I did not know to what extent. I did not fully understand my responsibility to treat it better. And that by treating my gut better – I am treating myself better. And by treating it better, I would nourish my spirit.

I follow my gut - and now have an opportunity to thank it for its service - by giving it what it needs. Focused intention. An opportunity to address my physical body – to enhance my spiritual journey – to heal.

Join me in this blog as I read, ponder and follow the guidance of Alberto Villoldo’s Grow a New Body. Want to join me? It will be easier together.
